He's now with the A's.  His projection is really a shot in the dark, considering he's missed 2 of the last 3 seasons completely.  Based on the data I have, he will strike out so much, and Oakland being such a terrible place to hit for average anyway, that I have him at .203 going by memory.  I suppose his upside is that the older McPherson takes a few more walks, and he hits like Jack Cust has the last few years.  Downside is obviously a full year of DL time.  He also might just hit 30 bombs for Sacramento.

I'm hoping to add him to the site later tonight.

Thanks Matt. I think I'll stick to topics that interest me. Which is baseball. Sean Forman has the WAR data up to 2008 and we've already got a deal so he can use the update once it's ready. Any suggestions on how to use that, such as alongside HOF monitor, I'd leave a suggeston on his site.

Thanks for the reply, Sean. I was wondering if you had any affiliation with Sean Forman, and then I saw this note at the bottom of the Baseball Reference blog: "Total Zone Rating calculations provided by Sean Smith of" Maybe Sean would consider listing your top-500 player's career WAR value and a player's all-time WAR ranking in the "Hall of Fame" statistics of the individual player pages, along with HOF monitor, etc. I think the HOF voters and fans would benefit from seeing all those stats in one place, as more attention is being paid to such statistics in recent years. BTW, I think we should unleash the two Seans on the climate change conundrum. You'd have things figured out pretty quickly! Matt

Possibly this weekend. I updated retrosheet following their 2009 release. I can go back to 1952 with Totalzone and stuff, though that might take longer. I'm leaning towards updating 2009 now, and then going back and getting the 1952 stuff in later this winter.

Great website, Sean. Found you through RLYW. When are you going to be updating your all-time top 500 position player/pitcher lists to incorporate the 2009 season stats? I find that your list gives another dimension to analyzing and comparing players.

Projections updated. Not sure how the system expects 136 games out of D-Mac. But I never claimed to be able to project playing time.
